Introduction to yoga poses, philosophy and history for children ages 7-12.

One missed class only may be made up in a regular weekly yoga class by an adult from the family. No refunds, credits or make ups are available for any additional missed classes except in the case of illness, injury or family emergency.

Experience yoga postures with the support of our yoga rope wall. The wall ropes provide support, traction, balance and leverage in a full range of poses. Learning the Ropes workshops are open to students who have completed at least one 8-week session of Iyengar Yoga classes.

Freeing the Hips with Karen Allgire
July 21

Explore various yoga poses to experience a full range of movement possibilities in the hips. Mobile, strong hips can improve balance, decrease hip pain, and support a healthy lower back.

Inversions: Beginning and Beyond with Amy Runnels
August 4

Learn the basic principles of inverted poses and adaptations to address special needs. Explore strategies to help build confidence and move beyond fear in these highly beneficial postures. Open to students with at least 3 months of Iyengar Yoga experience. Students should not be menstruating, or have head or neck surgeries.

Knees at Ease in Every Pose with Karen Allgire

Learn principles of alignment and yoga postures that support healthy function of the knee joints. Experience ways of moving the knees with better range of motion and greater comfort.

Sequences for Home Practice with Karen Allgire
October 13

This class is designed to support you in developing a home yoga practice. Learn yoga sequences of various lengths that you can do on your own. Handouts will be included to guide your regular home practice.

Sanskrit, Chanting And Yoga Philosophy With Karen Allgire*

The path of yoga offers a set of principles that guide us through life and support us as we explore deeper aspects of our being. These ideas are expressed through the language of Sanskrit. In this workshop we will interweave the practice of postures with chanting and philosophy discussion. Learn how to chant the Sanskrit alphabet and how to read the diacritical marks for correct pronunciation of pose names and yogic concepts.

This gentle yoga class is designed for those who wish to move at a moderate pace. Whether you are new to yoga or getting back into shape after time off, this class will provide progressive learning of postures with a gentle approach, using a chair and other props for support.

This class is for students of all ages and conditions – yoga is for everyone!

Make up policy: Missed Gentle Chair Yoga classes can be made up in any Level 1 class. Classes must be made up by one week after the last class of a 6-week series.
